The Challenge
UK builders are brilliant at the job. The paperwork is a different story.
Quotes typed up on WhatsApp and forgotten. Scopes agreed verbally and disputed later. Deposits chased for weeks. Evenings lost pricing jobs at the kitchen table instead of being with family.
The tools that existed either didn't understand how trades actually work, or were built for larger construction companies with admin teams. There was nothing purpose-built for the everyday tradesperson working alone or with a small crew.
We didn't assume we knew the answer. We spoke to hundreds of builders across the UK, electricians, plumbers, builders, roofers, and asked them what was actually costing them time and money. Every single one recognised the same five problems. That research shaped everything.
What We Did
We designed and built TradePact from the ground up, a PWA (Progressive Web App) that works on any phone without an App Store download, with native iOS and Android apps following in October.
The brief was simple: build something for the builder who wants time back. Not a complex job management suite. Not something that needs a training session. Something that works the way a tradesperson actually thinks.
AI is in the product, but only where it earns its place. Voice-to-scope lets a builder describe a job out loud and TradePact builds the line items in real time. That's where AI genuinely saves time. The legal framework, the payment flow, the client experience, that's where human thinking and good design matter more than any algorithm.
ScopeGuard was one of the most important features we built. It clearly lists everything not included in the price, skips, roof access, whatever, signed off by the client before work starts. One feature that stops the argument before it starts.
Every quote TradePact produces is legally binding under the Electronic Communications Act 2000. Timestamped, IP-tracked, scope-locked at signature. Not just a PDF. A legal record.
The MVP took 4 months from May 2026. Phase 2 brings the native app, accountancy integrations with Xero, QuickBooks and Sage, and more.
